Piazza delle Erbe in Mantua is the town’s showcase, but it also represents the most authentic commercial and traditional hub. This is where the weekly market has been set up for centuries, where tourists take a stroll, gazing in all directions, mesmerised by the abundance of beauty.
In a privileged spot, under the arcades that were specifically designed as a shelter from rain and sun, squeezed between other little shops, on the same side as the magnificent home to the merchant Boniforte da Concorezzo, a new ‘La Bottega’ temporary store has found its place, at piazza delle Erbe no. 23.
This is just the shop window, as the shop and laboratory are a few yards away, at Via Calvi no. 54. The window, as we all know, is to display gems: not just the frames, from high end to simple ones, but also drawings and pieces of contemporary art by internationally renowned artists such as Munari, Richter, Dorazio, Boetti, Nucara, Schifano, Vedova, Paonessa, Ferrarini, Perina, Veronesi.
And those strolling past this little window wanting to take home a souvenir of Mantua can choose between old photographs, cards and old prints. This is an experiment and we hope it will be successful!
